I just got back from a trip to China. That background? Oh that's the Yellow Mountains (Huang Shan). It rained most of the time I was there but that didn't stop it from being an amazing experience. If you didn't know by now, I love to travel.
I painted murals in High School. My portfolio at that time earned my acceptance to Pratt Institute where I developed a passion for graphic design. Since graduating, I’ve worked professionally as a graphic designer for several years and found that my favorite experiences have centered around designing for websites and mobile apps. I consider UX design less of a career change and more of a career evolution. General Assembly has taught me how to design with intent from a human centered approach and how to work towards meeting both user and business goals.
Creating great products that end-users will enjoy and intuitively understand comes from a human centered design philosophy. It's not enough to operate on bias and assumptions. I’ve enjoyed every aspect of User Experience design so far and while I believe I’m particularly adept at wire framing and visual design, I’m fascinated by research. I find joy in the overall process; from connecting the dots from initial user research through to the final visual design, with testing and iteration in between.
